Garage Floor Team Swisstrax Meets Jay Leno's Big Dog Garage

Like a kid in a candy store, the car enthusiast in Jay Leno's Big Dog Garage is a dream come true for garage floor tile superstar Swisstrax.

Jay Leno's Bugatti Cars on top of Swisstrax Garage Floor Pads

Swisstrax Corporation, manufacturer of earth-friendly, recyclable, plastic garage floor tiles -- Swiss engineered and made in the USA -- was seeing stars this month when they visited Jay Leno's Big Dog Garage in Burbank, California.

The story began when Swisstrax President Randy Nelson read an article and saw photos of Jay Leno's Big Dog Garage in Garage Style Magazine.

Randy Nelson said, “That can’t be -- such a beautiful car collection on that floor."

Bernard Juchli, Big Dog Garage

With assistance from Don Weberg of Garage Style Magazine, Randy proceeded to meet with the people at Leno’s garage. The first person he met was Swiss born Bernard Juchli. Juchli is a mechanical genius and keeps Jay Leno's Big Dog Garage running on all cylinders. He's also one of the country's top amateur formula race-car drivers and brings home trophies from the Vintage Auto Racing Association’s (VARA) annual events. According to the Jay Leno Big Dog Garage website, Team Juchli and Leno is an automotive match made in heaven. Randy, who speaks fluent Swiss-German and French, hit it off with Bernard, and Bernard gave Swisstrax a chance to meet with Leno and demonstrate the easy installation of interlocking modular garage floor car pads in the Big Dog Garage.

Swisstrax Ribtrax Garage Floor Pads installation in progress.

Of all the garage flooring products on the market, including paint and epoxy coatings, Motor Enthusiast Jay Leno, selected Swisstrax modular garage floor tiles to place under his famous car collection. He was looking for a good looking floor solution, a durable, easy to maintain floor, and something easy to install, move, or relocate if desired.

Devin Wiltbank, Swisstrax

When Jay met with Swisstrax President Randy Nelson proof was demonstrated face-to-face by Swisstrax do-it-yourself helpers in Leno's garage. Leno's decision to choose Swisstrax was easy.

From left: Randy Nelson, Jay Leno, Christine Nelson, Jonathan Nelson, Joanna Nelson & Jordan Nelson.

Jay Leno's garage floor pad installation was handled by knowledgeable, helpful Swisstrax Staff. To demonstrate the ease of installation and modular capabilities of the durable, interlocking qualities of Swisstrax floor tiles, Randy Nelson, proud father of three, had his children install some of the interlocking floor tiles as Jay Leno observed. Randy's children ranging in age from 8 to 11 have been demonstrating the ease of Swisstrax installation since they were old enough to assemble plastic Legos. A video clip of the Nelson Children installing Swisstrax snap-together, interlocking floor tiles can be seen at http://www.Swisstrax.com.

Jay Leno asked, "How can a plastic floor tile handle a five or six thousand pound Duensenberg?" Once again, proof was demonstrated by Swisstrax.

Jay was amazed to see how easy it was to install a new garage flooring solution. And, of even greater amazement was Jay's reaction when shown the Swisstrax plastic garage floor tiles withstanding the weight of some of his vehicles weighing over 6,000 pounds. To demonstrate the strength of the Swisstrax plastic garage floor tile, a Swisstrax garage floor pad was assembled and a few of Jay Leno's classic Duesenbergs were rolled on top without any sound coming from the floor -- only 100% Swisstrax quality was seen and not heard! In fact, the modular floor tiles can hold up to 40,000 pounds in rollover weight, and they have up to 5100 pounds in compressive strength.

Swisstrax garage floor tiles are available in many colors, several styles and can be used in a variety of indoor/outdoor flooring applications which include and are not limited to garage floors, dance floors, sport floors, patio floors, trade show floors, aircraft hanger floors, pool/spa floors, plus an endless number of applications for commercial floors and high performance floors. The Swisstrax tile styles are Ribtrax, Sportrax, Diamondtrax, Floortrax, Cointrax and Ribtrax Soft. Each of the modular, durable tile styles are illustrated and explained in detail at the Swisstrax website at http://www.Swisstrax.com.

Jay Leno chose the Ribrax tile style in slate gray and pearl silver colors using a "parking pattern" placing each of his vehicles center squared on the garage floor pad. The open profile of Ribtrax facilitates easy cleaning, is durable, attractive, practical, and virtually care free.

Ribtrax are made of polypropylene copolymer and are chemical and weather resistant. Ribtrax tiles each weigh about 23.5 ounces and are 15.75 inches square. The polypropylene copolymer withstands temperatures ranging from minus -22F to +248 degrees Fahrenheit and has pressure strength of 5,120 pounds per square inch. Plus, the Ribtrax open tile pattern has non-slip surface qualities. All the Swisstrax tiles have a 12-year warranty.

Jay Leno's Big Dog Garage received a complete transformation by Swisstrax. Plus, NBC produced live video of the installation, and Jay Leno’s Swisstrax garage floor endorsement will be airing on JayLenosGarage.com soon.

"The entire team at Big Dog Garage are really great people. Jay is very knowledgeable about his entire collection and Bernard, George, Jim, Per and the others build the cars from the ground up and turn them into what is seen as one of the finest collections in the world,” said Randy Nelson.

One of the most impressive points about Jay Leno's collection is he drives all the vehicles and 80+ motorcycles. Leno takes pride in his Duesenberg collection and made the Duesenbergs the first choice for Swisstrax garage floor pads. Swisstrax garage floor pads were also installed under Jay's Bugatti collection.

Jim, Big Dog Garage

Additional floor tiles were installed in the workshop around the machines. Ribtrax anti-fatigue floor tile was especially appreciated by the workers around the larger equipment requiring constant standing and surveillance.

A new tile floor covering was also installed around the clean-up area using a combination of Swisstrax non-slip floor tiles and anti-fatigue floor tiles.

Swisstrax modular floor tiles are tested and proven to be the best interlocking, plastic, tile floor covering product on the market. Jay Leno's seal of approval confirms Swisstrax’s strategy to become the household name in modular flooring tile. It's understood Swiss engineering and design equates quality, and manufactured in the USA supports the American economy. The people at Swisstrax do whatever it takes to serve their clients. Swisstrax is customer driven, and they stand behind their product. To receive a free sample of Swisstrax floor tile, call toll free at 1-866-748-7940. Floor Tile Manufacturer Swisstrax Announces New Corporate Headquarters.

Swisstrax, Inc., supplier of advanced interlocking floor tiles is moving. The garage floors superstar's move is slated for August of this year. The new corporate offices for Swisstrax in Indio, CA, will boast around 9200 square feet of warehouse and office space and will help the company focus on its rapid growth and expansion in export and North American markets. This is on top of the 15,000 sq. ft. production facility in So Cal. Swisstrax is also planning a new distribution facility in Tennessese for fall this year.

Swisstrax traces its origins and development back more than fifteen years to (surprise!) Switzerland. The advanced system was developed by the Swiss and has been sold throughout Europe and Scandinavia for many years, with nearly 22 million square feet of tile currently in use worldwide. Most of the floor tiles sold in the United States are manufactured in Southern California, so while it looks and sounds like an imported product, it’s really made domestically.

The Swisstrax Interlocking Flooring System is a perfect way to make any unsightly or damaged floor surface look new again or to simply and quickly make any garage floor, retail showroom, auto dealership, aircraft hanger or patio look new and beautiful in a few hours. The best part…it’s guaranteed for twelve years! Unlike painted-on epoxy systems which often require days to install and use harsh acids and noxious chemicals to prepare and finish the floor surface, Swisstrax requires no advance preparation. It doesn’t require adhesives of any kind and can be installed in most residential applications in about four to five hours.

Randy Nelson, President of Swisstrax, says “Hardware, software & service. (HSS) We provide our customers with great products, competitive prices and we deliver to your doorstep. Swisstrax is the ultimate solution for cracked, chipped or stained concrete floors. Creating an attractive and unique look for your garage floors, patios, aircraft hangers, toy barns, museums and workshops or other concrete areas could not be easier. These modular floors are a cost effective alternative to epoxy or other coatings—lasting longer, easy to install, and 100% portable, so they can be taken with you—try that with epoxy coatings!”

Swisstrax, Inc., the next generation of floor covering, is moving to new headquarters to be able to serve your even better. Contact them today for more information or samples at 866-748-7940 or on the web at www.swisstrax.com.

Easy Way To Make Your Garage Floor Sparkle

by Jim Warren

The floor of your garage is often a place that is subject to the most amount of dirt and grime. When you consider all of the materials that get spilled on it every single day it is a wonder that you can actually see the floor through the grime. There are many things that you can do to get the garage floor looking clean again.

Not everyone will be able to paint their garage floors and have it look great when they are done. There are some things that can be done in place of paint that will give your garage floor a fresh look in no time. You should be careful of the products that you use so that you can make sure that you get a great looking floor when you are finished.

The preparation of your floor is as important as the product that you use to seal and coat it. It will be necessary for you to take a look at the floor and determine what kind of preparation it will need to receive the coat of floor paint or epoxy.

You can go ahead with the paints or sealers if you have a floor that has never been painted before. You will still have to clean the floor completely before you start painting. There absolutely cannot be any oil or dirt on the floor when you begin with these products or it will show through.

You can use a standard cleaning product if all you have is dirt on the floor. But if you have oil and gas on the floor you will need a special product that will clean this up off of your garage floor. You should remove the oil stains before you begin cleaning the floor.

When you have painted and sealed the floor, you will have to wait seven days for it to cure before you are able to drive on it.

For floors that are filled with holes and marks there are products that you can use to fill the holes. If there are too many to fill in with one of these products, you should consider resurfacing the whole floor.

There is a lot of work involved in cleaning and making your garage door look good again. You might find that it is easier if you buy a mat and cover the floor instead. There are many types of flooring mats that you can put on your floor and get a great look for your garage. Check out the different designs that you can use on your garage floor. You'll still have to clean the floor before you use one of these mats for your floor. Get the oil stains up and scrub it till it is clean.

Volunteers hammer away at 'Extreme Makeover' house

Durable Modular Garge Floor Coverings - Plastic floor tiles snap into place transforming a concrete floor into a beautiful, low maintenance flooring surface.

HOLT - Like a colony of ants, hundreds of blue-shirted workers swarmed on what will become the Nickless family's home. It had been only a foundation at 8 a.m. Monday. By mid-afternoon it was a full-fledged house.

"I'm just so thankful there are so many people helping," said Terry Engstrand, whose mother, Arlene Nickless, and brothers Aaron, 11; Noah, 9; and Andrew, 7, will move into the house Friday. "It's going to be a healthy, clean place where we can come spend time with our mom and not have to worry about fixing things."

On Sunday, crews demolished the 1860s house the Nickless family had been living in as part of the ABC TV show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." The house had fallen into disrepair after Arlene Nickless' husband, Tim, became ill with hepatitis C nearly seven years ago, family members said. Tim died in January.

The family's story helped provide fuel for the long hours that began Monday, volunteers said. Crews will work around the clock until the house is finished. The work is being done by volunteers with donated materials.

Mark Hamelink of Grand Ledge started his day at around 7 a.m. building trusses. "I feel like I could go another 10 hours," he said. "You go inside and everybody is working together. You could ask anybody for a tool. On a normal job, it's just not like that."

Organizers said the volunteer workers are the key to getting the project done so quickly. At any given time, there are hundreds swarming the job site doing jobs from building to picking up trash. More than 1,600 are expected throughout the build.

"Instead of three, four, five guys, there are 45 guys," said framer Brad Durrant, 29, of Eagle. "We still bump elbows, but we all know what has to be done." Dale Hosford, owner of Hosford Bros. Concrete of East Lansing, brought a crew of 14 to the job site Monday. They poured the basement and garage floors.

"I don't think I've seen anything like it," Hosford said as the site bustled around him.

Brothers Jason and Jerome Helton spent the day working on furniture for the themed bedroom of Andrew, the youngest Nickless brother. They own a set design and art displays company in the Detroit area and donated their crew for the project.

"We've been gifted from birth," said Jason, who graduated from East Lansing High School. "The best way to be is to give back and teach others to give back."

"What we get in return is to see what happens when the kid first walks into the room," said Jerome. "It's priceless."

One of the best home improvement projects you could plan would be to add value to your garage. The garage flooring is a very important aspect to the entire look and feel of a garage. You might be surprised how much value you can add to your home with a nice decorative garage floor.

There are some very good reasons to add a nice flooring surface to your garage or shop. If you spend allot of time in your garage you may be thinking about the safety factors involved with our garage floor. By simply adding a garage floor mat you can make your garage much safer to walk on and work in.

Garage flooring mats come in many styles and color and can add some nice value to your home. Mats are easy to install and this is a project you can complete on your own without hiring a contractor and a lot of added expenses. The added value can really make a huge divergence if you plan to sell your home in the near future.

If you are more concerned about the wear and tear on your flooring then you may want to consider a sealant type of surface. Again, there are many good ones on the market that you can apply on your own saving you hundreds of dollars. A sealant will help keep stains and other spills from working into the concrete and causing all kinds of damage.

One of the great things about a mat or sealant for your garage flooring is the fact that you can always add a new mat or apply some new sealant every few years. The new look will keep things interesting and safe for you and your family.

You can find many products online, but you may find some good deals at your local home improvement stores. The best time to shop for this type of material is in the off season. No matter what type of garage flooring choose you are sure to make a notable improvement to the old stained concrete floor that most people have.

Swisstrax Interlocking Floor Tiles: Never Has Flooring Induced So Much Garage Envy

A whole new level of garage gear obsession. [click on image]

from Gear Patrol

If you are anything like me, then your garage serves as a multifunctional part of your home. It’s a place to park your vehicles, store your tools, hide your toys, and, just maybe, hide yourself. If your garage is anything like my garage, then its floor looks like absolute crap. Enter Swisstrax.

Originally hailing from Switzerland but now manufactured in California, Swisstrax represents Gear Patrol’s new favorite innovation from the neutral nation, coming out of nowhere to unseat Ricola cough drops and holey cheese. Swisstrax offers six different styles of tile, some of which are available in fourteen different colors. Even better, their website features a floor designer whereby you can layout a custom floor and easily order all the pieces you’ll need. Here’s a tip: the square tiles lend themselves perfectly to oversized renderings of your favorite 8-bit game characters (think Mario, the size of a Mazda).

Their various designs suit garages, workout rooms, airplane hangars, and more. Each tile features a hefty complement of snap locks to secure it to its brethren, and a four point injection molding process that allows a Swisstrax floor to withstand up to 40,000 pounds of roll-over compression. Even if you could overwhelm this floor system with the sheer bulk of your man-toys, you’d be backed by a 12 year warranty. My favorite feature is simply a function of the tiles interlocking design. Unlike other floor coatings and coverings, the tiles are inherently portable and reusable. Consider me impressed.

The best way to test garage flooring, get a Ferrari F430. [Courtesy: Swisstrax]

Gear Patrol Hands-On: GP procured Swisstrax floor tiling for hands-on testing. We pinched, pulled, stomped, and even bit the Swisstrax with all of our combined might. Nary a scratch was made. Conclusion: this is one tough tile.

Unbiased Information on garage flooring products,
vendors, installation and manufacturers

Garage Flooring Info Com
In the comical last 24 hours we have gotten a lot of attention. Apparently an article we wrote attracted a lot of attention. While the information we published was factually accurate and contained documents from reliable sources, we have been asked by two competitors (to each other) to remove the BLOG. While we do not normally cave when we have accurate information, one of the two companies threatened action that would have forced us into a position where we would not be able to maintain our unbiased position. Therefore, for the greater good of the industry we removed information from the BLOG as well as the documents it contained. Requests for these documents will not be honored. What made the situation comical is that we invited both competitors the ability to talk about their companies and get some free PR. Both declined and I believe they each thought that we were ?tied in? with the other company. It was interesting to watch, but I think I will stay out of the way of fierce comp...

American garage Floor Caught in a Lie?
Michael Parker of American Garage Floor makes the claim on his website that "We do not operate several garage flooring sites LIKE OUR COMPETITORS". The garage flooring industry is a relatively small community of entrapenours, contractors and manufacturers. Based on documents obtained from the indiana secretary of states office, Michael Parker is also a principal in Diversified Floor Systems which operates its own website. From a technical standpont Mr. Parker could probably argue that he is telling the truth..... After all American Garage Floor and Divirsified Floor Systems are operated by seperate companies. You as the consumer will have to make the judge as to weather or not claiming not to operate multipmle websites, and then doing so under seperate company names is being truthful.Printout from in.gov

Garage Flooring Mats ParkingPad G-Floor
Garage Floor ing Mats One of the products that have really impressed me over the last few years is the Parking Pad® Garage Floor Mat from Better Life technology. Having been in this industry for some time, it is not very often that you find an easy to use product that does what it says it is going to do. The PVC garage floor mat from Better Life Technology (BLT) protects your concrete floor from dirt, salt and chemicals you bring in with your vehicle on a daily basis. Unlike containment mats, the BLT garage floor mat is suitable for use over your entire garage floor. If you are like me and you have spent thousands of dollars on a fancy epoxy floor system only to find that it is not as resistant to hot tires and chemicals as you would like; BLT has come up with an ingenious idea of a clear mat to protect your epoxy. BLT garage floor mats are not going to provide you with the fancy checkerboard pattern that you would get with garage floor tiles, but they are much easier to install...

Anti Fatigue Mats for the Garage
One of the calls that always gave me a chuckle would be the garage flooring customers calling and looking for a ?softer? garage floor. Invariably the consumer would be looking for a product that would provide some anti fatigue properties while still being tough enough be the garage. Many consumers would call in looking for a rubber garage mat or the soft flexible tiles like you would put in a kids recreational room. Let me start with the obvious: I do not recommend a soft tile for areas of the garage that are going to be exposed to vehicular traffic. My experience has been that they simply do not hold up. That being said if you Google the term garage anti fatigue mats you will come up with a whole range of products that will work for your work areas: http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=nav client&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4DMUS_enUS2 44US244&q=garage+anti+fatigue+mats The trick to using these mats is making sure that you only use these mats in the areas where you are working, not t...

Garage Flooring Tiles
Garage Flooring Tiles I was walking does the aisle of a warehouse grocery store the other day and found a product that they were advertising as garage floor tiles. The price was extremely low and I know the costs of plastics so I got a little curious. I picked up the relatively light box, placed it in my shopping cart and took them home for an inspection. I got the box open and I literally laughed. While the samples of products like Racedeck, Swisstrax and a host of others measured about ½? to the base of the pattern, this stuff was about half as thick. It also had noticeable less gloss and lacked the engineering you would normally see in a product of this type. I tried to flex the product and it literally snapped in half in my hands. To reiterate a point from my last blog, if you are going to get garage floor tiles get a sample first. My preference would have at least two tiles and 4 would be nice of each product you were considering ordering. Once you have the tiles pe...

Garage storage products are definitely an important part about getting your garage organized. While homeowners are organizing their garage, they are becoming increasingly likely to coat or cover their garage floor. While garage floor epoxy has long been accepted as the norm within the industry, many homeowners are moving towards more practical and easy to install products. There are a couple of possible problems that can arise when a homeowner uses epoxy. Fist, it is generally recommended that epoxy be installed in warmer temperatures, leaving consumers who want to remodel their garage in late fall or even winter out in the cold. Another issue with epoxy is the amount of time you may be required to leave your vehicle off the floor. Third, unless you are willing to spend a small fortune on a professionally installed products, Do-It-Yourself epoxy projects have a good chance of peeling or failing due to hot tires, poor floor preparation, improper installation and the moisture content ...

Overhead Storage ? The First Step in Organizing Your Garage
Let?s face it, it is going to take more than one item to get the average garage organized, but the overhead garage storage rack is the place to start. If I could only buy one item for my garage in the next 30 days, it would be an overhead garage storage rack. It is probably one of the few products you can install in less than an hour, including the time it take to clear a path for your ladder. There are a lot of great overhead storage products on the market. Manufacturers like Onrax, Hyloft, MonsterRax, Off The Floor, TuffRax, Schulte and many others have a large selection of garage storage rack available. Many have both consumer oriented products as well as contractor only products. When asked how a consumer should choose if they want to do the project themselves or pay for a contractor to install the product one major manufacturer replied ?Its kind of tough to pay someone a few hundred dollars to attach a couple of brackets to the ceiling which is all it takes to install one...

What Type of Garage Floor Covering Should You Select?

By David Karlson

So, you have a garage and you want it to last. You want to protect the floor from grease, oil and all other spills and marks that can occur in a busy garage setting. What type of garage floor covering should you consider purchasing?

There are many different types of garage floor covering options for you to consider. You can choose floor tile that is available in many different types of materials. You can even paint your floor with a special type of floor paint.

There are mats available in many different sizes. This form of garage floor covering is quite simple to install as you just throw it on the floor wherever you want it. This is probably the easiest way to cover your garage floor.

If you choose to paint your garage floor, make sure you purchase the right kind of paint for the job. The paint is a special epoxy that is designed to protect the floor from spills and general wear and tear.

A good garage floor covering can save you money in the end because it will be protecting your concrete. It will also act as a safety feature in preventing people from slipping on the wet or slippery concrete.

If you choose tile as your garage floor covering, you will have many choices in patterns and colors to choose. An interlocking floor tile is quite easy to install and does not take a lot of time to install either. It can also be used in a basement or workshop as it is not limited to use in the garage.

A garage floor covering will also allow you to keep the floor much cleaner as a covering is easier to clean than the concrete base. If you happen to spill some gas or oil, it is a whole lot easier to clean off a covering than it is off a concrete floor.

If you have always desired to have your garage floor looking like a showroom floor then that is the way to go. You will be able to impress your friends and relatives with your new garage floor.

In conclusion, if you are not happy looking at your concrete floor or it is starting to look shabby then why not consider installing a garage floor covering. These covers are excellent for protecting a concrete floor and for giving your garage a clean new look.

Your garage floor should be protected and we provide several different methods to protect any concrete floor area whether using a garage floor sealer or any type of garage floor covering.

Garage Floor Coating Can Help You Avoid The Bare Floors Syndrome

Bare Concrete Floor

Concrete Floor Covered with
Modular Garage Floor Covering Tiles

from Housing Floor

To the dismay of homeowners, builders most often leave bare concrete floors in your garage. The bare concrete floor left by the builder is not protected in anyway and can diminish the value of your home when you continue to fail in protecting by failing to install garage floor covering. There are several methods for protecting your garage floor which include, garage floor paint, garage floor coating, garage floor mats and garage floor tile. All of these garage floor coverings can help in the protection of your garage floor, and thus provide protection to your home. More than simple protection of a garage floor comes into the choice of what garage floor covering a homeowner will choose. In the decorating of your home, garages are included. Many homeowners prefer to have their garage match the style of the rest of their home, including colors and furnishings. Garage floor coating provides many choices that have not previously been available in colors and inclusions. Inclusions are those items that are put into the coating to keep the floor from being too slick. All of these choices allow a homeowner to be creative in protecting their investment of their homes.

Why Protect your Garage Floor?

All homeowners should protect their garage floors with some type of garage floor covering. Garage floor of bare concrete are open to stairs, chipping damage, vehicle residue damage and general debris damage over time. In selling a home, many factors come into play, not the least is the buyer’s perception of the home. Too often a buyer enters a garage and finds no improvement of a concrete floor, and the floor stained, chipped and otherwise damaged. This does not give a good impression of the care taken of the home. Using a garage floor coating can overcome this in two ways, the garage looks appealing and attractive to the buyer, and by protecting the floor there is not damage to discourage the buyer.

Garage floor coating offers some of the easier and quicker ways of protecting the entire garage floor. Garage floor coating is usually applied to concrete garage floors with paint rollers or brushes, and has some type of inclusion that allows for the floor not to be too slick and cause slippage. This allows for quick application and minimal cost for the benefits it provides.

In addition to protecting your floor from damage, you can also protect yourself from damage. Cleaning a floor protected with garage floor coating is usually quick and requires little effort. When messes, oils and other debris are cleaned from the floor with ease, they will be cleaned more often. Less debris and oils on the floor make it less hazardous to walk on, and avoids falls which result from slipping on debris.

The Different Sizes For Garage Floor Coverings

Durable Garage Floors - Interlocking Floor Tiles
from All Garage Floor Covering

Garage floor coverings come in different sizes that depend on what kind of covering they are. For example, roll out covers usually have bigger sizes than you need, so you can adjust them exactly the way you need them. If you want to use interlocking garage floor covering, then you will know the sizes for each tile. You will have to calculate exactly how many tiles you need and what size.

Ribbed garage floor covering usually comes in four sizes, that are most likely all you need: 7-1/2?x17', 7-1/2?x20', 9'x20' or 10'x22'. Its thickness is designed to protect your concrete better (usually around 0.055? thick).

Roll out floor covering can have many different sizes. BLT coverings are the best example here. They use the most common types of sizes that anyone could need. First of all, BLT coverings are made in three different thickness grades: 0.055? is the base thickness and it is called standard grade. It is the most common thickness; 0.075? is the medium thickness and its name is commercial grade; the thickest of them all is 0.085? and its name is industrial grade. Enough about the thickness, now it is time to talk about the width and length. The width available for roll out coverings is 7.5', 8', 9', 10'. As for the length you can order a custom length, but the maximum width still is 10'.

The coin patterned garage floor cover from BLT has a 75 mil thickness. You can imagine that as it would be about 18 sheets of copy paper. The size available is 8×22. Other coin patterned garage floor coverings come in sizes as it follows: The standard sizes for them are 7.5×17, 8×22, 9×44, 9×60, 10×24. Except the 9×44 size that comes with 85 mil thickness, all the other ones are 75 mil thick. And here are some other very popular custom sizes that are being used: 7.5×14, 7.5×20, 7.5×22, 9×20, 10×22.

In conclusion, all types of garage floor coverings are designed to be made in all the sizes anyone could need. Coverings can also be made at custom size, but it is usually better and cheaper to buy a standard sized one and cut it to fit perfectly in your garage.

How Good the Garage Floor Coverings Really Are For Your Garage?

By John Sheppard

A garage floor covering helps your garage in two ways. The garage floor is better protected and it is much prettier to look at. Everyone who likes working in their garage will want to install a covering. A garage without covering is like a man without Sports.

There are several types of coverings like: epoxy garage floor covering, roll out floor coverings, vinyl garage floor covering, linoleum floor covering, interlocking garage floor covering. You can choose the type of covering you would like to install depending on what you want to do with your garage and how much you would like to spend inside it. An epoxy garage floor covering is the best if you work a lot in your garage and you also want your garage to look spotless. It's a bit expensive though. Roll out floor coverings are the cheapest but also the most modest ones. They don't really improve the look of your garage much, they just protect your concrete and you from slipping. If you want to turn your garage into an extra room, the best choice would be interlocking garage floor covering.

A garage floor covering can help you a lot. It can also save you a lot of time. It's true some of them are harder to install and more expensive, but some of them aren't. That depends entirely on how much you want to spend on the looks of your garage. If you spend time in your garage to work on your car or something else you surely would like a covering. Not only that it protects you from slipping but it also makes it easy for you to clean the floor. The concrete is also being protected from all sorts of chemicals, gas, oil and so on. These are things that could deteriorate the concrete in time. Another good thing that a covering can do for you is hide the cracks and uneven spots in the concrete. Of course, not all types of coverings can be used like that. For example, for the epoxy covering, you need to repair all the cracks and uneven spots in the concrete or the covering will not bond. The concrete must also be clean for the epoxy covering to be applied successfully.

So, in my opinion if you really like your garage and you spend a lot of time in it, the best way to help your garage is to install a covering. It's your choice what type of covering you would like and it is also your choice on how much you want to spend on it. But even the cheapest covering can help you save time and protect yourself and the concrete.

Protecting Your Garage Floor From Stains, Dirt and Mayhem

By Aazdak Alisimo

Take a good look at your garage floors - what do you see? Are you floors coated with dirt, grime, and cracked cement? If so, you need to give some thought to cleaning up and protecting it.

You may be asking yourself why you would even consider fixing up your garage floors ... and the answer is simple. Chances are, you have spent a great deal of time decorating and reshaping the inside of your home, right? Well (want it or not), you also spend quite a few hours inside of your garage - don't you? Aside from parking your car, you probably use tools to create various items within your garage; store things inside of your garage; and you may even invite guests into your home through your garage. Doesn't it make sense to put down a coating to protect it?

Most people associate their garages as some foreign part of the home. Well, they are not. A person looking to buy your home is not going to discount the garage. In fact, a common tip given to home buyers is to pay close attention to the garage floor and driveway. Why? Well, much like the eyes are the paths to the soul, these surfaced tell a pretty accurate story of how the homeowner cared for and maintained the home. While the rest of the house can be spruced up at the last moment, trashed garage floors are much more of a challenge.

Irrespective of resale issues, you should endeavour to keep your flooring in good shape for another basic reason. Garage floors are typically tough, but even they can eventually fall apart. This is particularly true since a garage tends to be the area where heavy stuff is moved about, dropped and so on. Penetration of liquids, particularly water, into the foundation can lead to a host of problems such as rebar rusting, cracking and so on. All are a pain to deal with and very expensive to repair.

At the end of the day, it is important to remember your garage is part of your home and should be cared for just like other rooms and areas. Using a protective coating that is tough can go a long way to doing just that.

Questions & Answers - Garage Flooring

Transforming a cracked or old garage floor into a durable beautiful finished surface is a snap with interlocking garage floor tiles. That's the commitment you get with the twelve year warranty provided by the world's best garage floor tiles. If you have a question about installing a new garage floor, please ask. The toll-free number is 1-866-748-7940. We found this handy Q&A and want to share it on our blog:

from Excell Garage Interiors

Q: My garage floor has uneven spots and cracks. Will Swisstrax still work?
A: Yes. Swisstrax is actually the perfect solution for a floor that has cracks, chips, or uneven spots. Swisstrax tiles will conform to most surface blemishes.

Q: Does Swisstrax have any kind of warranty?
A: Yes, Swisstrax has a 12 year manufacturers warranty. Try getting that with paint or epoxy!

Q: Do I have to lift Swisstrax up to clean underneath them?
A: No. Swisstrax tiles do not have to be moved. The best way to clean underneath the tiles is to run a shop vac over the areas with heavy traffic every couple of months. You may also hose the garage out. Swisstrax tiles have channels on the backside that allow water to drain out.

Q: How do I clean the surface of the tiles?
A: Simply sweep or mop your new floor as needed. For scuffs or spills use any house hold cleaner.

Q: How does Swisstrax compare in price to other flooring options?
A: Swisstrax tiles are about middle of the road when it comes to price. While pain is the least expensive way to go, it is also the least durable. Epoxy is much more durable than paint, but it is also much more expensive. Average epoxy jobs can run $5 - $7 a square foot. Swisstrax tiles are under $5 a square foot, are much more durable than paint or epoxy, and come with a 12 year warranty.

Q: Can you put the tiles around poles, shelves, cabinets, or other obstacles that can't be moved?
A: Yes, Swisstrax tiles can be cut to fit around almost any object.

Q: Can I install my new Swisstrax flooring system myself, or do I need a professional?
A: Anyone can install a Swisstrax floor! The snap together tiles make the job easy. All that's needed for installation is a cutting tool. The best household tool is a jigsaw.
